Color Catalog
Custom Colors: Color can be a tricky issue. We strongly recommend you use a color from this chart as well as request a free sample of this printed chart (to see how it comes out in print). However, you may ask us to print any color. We might not be able to print the colors you want, but you can ask. Why can't we print any and every color? Color printing uses 4 colors (even photographic printing uses the same 4 colors as dyes in the photo paper). It is also known as CMYK (Cyan Magenta Yellow and blacK). In comparison to a computer screen, 4-color printing has a more limited spectrum (range of colors) that it can print. This is because you are trying to recreate all of the subtle colors in the rainbow using a combination of just 4 colors.
What Colors Are Safe? Most colors are fine, and photographs are not an issue. The trouble is with really bright/ saturated colors (colors that look great from a glowing screen), but are much harder to print. In the end, it is easier to list the type of colors that don't work: Lime Green, Hot Pink, Bright Turquoise, Neon Anything, Fuchsia (unless it is a pastel fuchsia). In fact any of those colors would work in a more muted/ pastel version.
You can find any color you want from the following online color picker: Febooti Online Color Picker (you will leave this window). Be sure to write down the Hex number (i.e. "D2F34G") of any color you like. Again, we'll tell you if the color is out of range, but as long as it isn't a very bright color, it should work. Colors near the center of the color wheel are safe, as are colors on the outside. The middle "ring" area is where colors are bright, and therefore harder to print.
Matching Colors: If you are picky about matching a color to something (like a bridesmaid dress), then you will need to order this color chart off of our free sample page. The only way we guarantee colors is if you either get the printed chart, or you approve a hard copy with the color printed. This is because we can't guarantee if your screen is accurate. In fact, monitors show colors almost always are much BRIGHTER than they appear in prints (well obviously your monitor gives off light, as opposed to just reflecting it like a print does). Again, we actually almost guarantee that the printed colors will vary from what you see on your screen. To request a printed copy of our color patches, go to our "Contact Us" page.
Use Color Codes: We only accept colors from you in Hex code form (i.e. "D2F34G"). Period. Color names are subjective and useless (you can find dozens of distinct colors and shades that have been officially called "olive," for example). Now, you aren't bound by these colors. You can use the color picker above, or even say "I like color ______ (use the Hex code), but a bit lighter." Of course we can't guarantee the color you see on your screen (even on emailed proofs) is accurate unless you get a hard copy.
