Font Catalog
Fonts are a major element to the look and feel of your wedding invitations, announcements, etc. The style of your wedding cards can be enhanced greatly by what font is used. It can make the cards look more casual, fun, modern, elegant, etc.
Font Categories: Fonts can be difficult to categorize. Words like Fancy, Elegant, Fun, Casual, Hadnwritting, Calligraphy, and so on, can be used to try to put them in a box that they may or may not fully belong in. We've decided not to categorize our fonts because you may be looking for a "Script" font, but in reality you end up loving a "Handwriting" font that you wouldn't have seen if you looked in one place. Plus, one font can fall in to so many categories. So we have them all shown here in alphabetical order.
Tips and cautions on picking a font:
- Is the font readable? Scripty fonts can be pretty, but not always readable. If you have to have a very elegant font that is hard to read, consider just doing your names in that font, and making the rest of the text in a more readable font that is more like a calligraphy font (Park Avenue is a favorite for elegance and readability combined)
- Strange Upper-Case Letters: One reason we like this same text (that we use a lot) for the wording example, is because it has the following upper-case letters in the body of the text: I, J, and T. Those are letters to watch out for, big time! You might notice that the I, J, and T look very similar in some elegant fonts. Especially look at the name "Ivan." In some fonts it looks like "Juan." This also shows another issue: a "v" can look like a "u." These strange letters can often not matter. It does matter when someone's name looks funny. So look at those letters carefully if your name, or a parent's name has them.
- Size Matters: If you plan on cramming a lot of information onto a panel, the font may get smaller and smaller (to fit more lines of text on). As the font gets smaller, it needs to be less fancy in order to be read. The example text we use has 23 lines (inlcuding the extra line breaks and the alphabets). Anything more than that on a 5x7" panel, and you won't be able to use a script font. And (as you can see from the examples) even that is sometimes pushing it.
Better Catalog: perhaps a better way to search our fonts is to go to our Full Wedding Card Catalog (pops). Otherwise, continue on.
Our most popular fonts: Before you wade through 70 fonts, here are the ones that we have requested the most. They are fonts that are easy to read and work well. All fonts are already in bold. Most designs work best when the font is bold. So if a font shown here isn't bold enough, choose another font.
