Design/ Printing
Can I change _______?
Yes! Indeed, for sure, and you betcha. These are customizable. You can have us do just about anything to a design. Change fonts, change colors, change the layout.
Can you copy this design?
No. We cannot outright copy another company's copyrighted design. We cannot even look at it (and then come up with something similar) without being in danger of breaking the law. But what we can do is make anything you describe for us. Simply describe what you like (about their design) and we'll make it. Only it will be customized even more for you as we go through the designing process.
Can a photo be in Black and White?
Again, yes, just ask and it will be so.
Can you print a specific COLOR?
Yes, but you really need to visit our color page for more info
Can the text be printed in GOLD or SILVER?
Nope. Metallic "colors" are not really colors, they are colored metal. Meaning they aren't complete without the reflective properties of the metal. Invitations can only have a metallic "printing" when they are embossed with a metal leaf, or use a special ink just for that. We don't do metallic printing. It is impossible with our photo processes, and when done (on traditional invitations) it is rather expensive.
What paper is it on?
Read "Card Paper Types" to the left.
Can you put a background photo (or image) of _______?
We are not a stock photo agency. We would have to be in order for us to stock the thousands of specific photo "looks" that people might like. Our favorite is "Can you but a nature background on?" That could mean almost anything: mountains, rivers, ocean, forest, butterflies, clouds, sunsets, wild flowers, etc. (and any combination of those items). So if you want a specific background, it would be best if you took the photo yourself. That way you have the copyright and you knew what you wanted from the beginning.
Do you do Tri-fold cards?
No, at this time we only do bi-fold.
Reprinting
There are a couple of different types of reprinting (reprinting, re-doing, re-ordering, and repeats). Read each type to figure out which one you are interesed in understanding.
Reprinting?
This is where we messes up. It is limited to a very specific situation: Tthe proof you approved is not the proof we printed. For example, you approved proof-5, and we accidentally print proof-4 (the one before you asked us to change the time of the reception). Then it is our fault, and we will reprint them free of charge. Again, this is only when we print the wrong file, and it is very rare, but can happen.
What if I don't like the prints?
Note, this has never happened, but we have this policy. We give you every opportunity to see the quality of our product (with free samples and hard copy options), so there shouldn't be an excuse. We've never had a customer reject their order on quality reasons, but if you do wish to do so you can. We won't reprint it, because what you see is what we do, and the reprint would be the same. You can get a full refund once you mail back the complete order. We cannot and will not reimburse you for your lost time. Again, you had ample opportunity to see test prints. That said, we have never had an order returned, but with the thousands we do, it is bound to happen, so we have a policy.
Re-Doing?
This is where you made a mistake. Your times changed, you spelled your in-laws names wrong, you forgot to add an address, etc. This rarely happens, but most often because of a time change. The "point-of-no-return" (when the cards are already printed and you will have to pay for a re-do) is when you have given us a written approval (via email) on a proof that you have received (emailed or hard copy) -AND- you have paid your final balance. When those magical stars align, you have "locked-in" the designs and committed to the prints.
So what's a girl (though about 10% of our customers are the groom) to do? Well we are aware of the frustration and costs that this brings, so we do offer deeply discounted reprint rates. These rates are given on a case-by-case basis (we don't advertise them), but think of how deeply discounted "additional items" are for the same card, and you get the idea. Now you don't get free shipping again (due to the discounts), and that shipping is a flat $10 fee.
But It's not my fault, right?
Again, the way to tell is if the prints match the proofs you approved. It doesn't matter if there is a mis-spelled word you think we should have caught. We proof for the very reason that you bare you part of the responsibility of making this right. If you need changes and the proofs match the print, it is a "re-do," and you will have to pay some printing and shipping costs. If they don't match (and email records are the proof either way), then we messed up and will reprint.
Re-Ordering?
This is where you loved the cards, but you forgot about that other family group on your step-mother's side as well as the group you were involved in during college. You just need more. We have great news and okay news. The okay news is that you will have to pay a $5 shipping fee and order a minimum of 25 (of each card type). The great news is that we locked you in at the price bracket you were at. So if you were in the 300 price bracket, you still get that price.
Repeats?
This is where you are ordering a new card, but you are a recent repeat customer. This is for those who order a card, and need to order a new card within 9 months of paying for the first one. Think of Save-the-Date cards and Thank you Cards. You can order those (if you even want them) at the same times as a wedding invitation, but many people want to order them months before or after the invites.
Our policy is that the repeat order (if within 9 months) has the "Main Item" reduced by $0.20 per card. Additional items are the same price they always are (because they are already hugely discounted). That $0.20 is a savings of $20 per 100 main cards. Of course you save even more if you order everything at the same time, the first time.
Envelopes/ Mailing
Can you ship to other countries?
We do ship to Canada for a flat fee of $10. We only ship to USA or Canada, if you are outside of those countries we can ship it to a friend or service of yours that is within the USA (who can then ship it on to you), otherwise we unfortunately cannot ship to you.
Postcard? What is I don't want an envelope, and want to use it as a Postcard?
Any cardstock card is suitable to be used as a postcard in the US mail system. However, only 3.5x5" cards are eligible for postcard stamp rates. 5x7" cards are too large, and need a normal 1st-class stamp.
Stamps? Is one stamp enough?
Yes, even a folding card with an RSVP card (and it's envelope) and an insert (enclosure) card, is still within the requirements for a single first-class stamp. If you do have two 3.5x5" cards, you might want to stick them side-by-side so the envelope is less bumpy.
Our cardstock is medium thick/ stiff. It is thick and stiff enough to be good enough for wedding cards, but not too think to require multiple stamps when you put multiple cards in.
One reason we never offer square invitations is because they cost more to send. According to the US Postal Service website, letters will have an additional $0.13 surcharge on postage if the any of the following apply:
- It is a square letter (minimum of 5x5 for suqare)
- It contains very rigid items such as wood or metal
- It has clasps, string, buttons, or similar closure devices
- It has an address parallel to the shorter dimension of the letter
- It contains items such as pens that cause the surface to be uneven (insert cards are fine)
- The length divided by height is less than 1.3 or more than 2.5 (all of our cards are good)
Again, we don't offer invitations that would be charged this surcharge. So you should be good.
Can I have an outer envelope?
We only offer a single envelope to fit our wedding cards. This is because it is much less expensive (saves you money), and having two envelopes is unnecessary. The following is by Nina Callaway from About.com: "Traditionally, wedding invitations were sent in two envelopes so that they would remain pristine in spite of their journey. But since mail delivery has made much progress since the days of messengers and horses, you can save money by using only one envelope."
Do you sell just envelopes?
No, our envelopes are offered with wedding cards only. Sorry.
Do you print addresses on envelopes?
Yes, click on our addressing services to learn more.
Can I get the envelopes early?
One flexible option we provide is early envelope delivery. This is desirable if you want to hand-write addresses on your envelopes, and you want to get an early start on that. It does not make sense to do this if you select to have us print recipient addresses on the envelopes (more on Addressing Services at the bottom of this pricing information).
Early Envelope Delivery is a flat $10 shipping and handling fee (you still get free shipping on the invitations order when it is completed, but this additional shipping has this flat fee). There is also a maximum of 500 envelopes shipped early, but that should keep most hands busy addressing them. You pay the fee when you pay the deposit (you are sent to the depsosit page when you submit your order).
Time Frame (Turn Around)
When can I get them?
The short answer is that 2 weeks is fast, 3-4 is normal, 5-6 weeks if you take your time getting back to us with changes after we send you proofs. Please read "How This Works" (pops above) for full details.
How long to print and ship?
Printing & packaging takes about 2-3 business days and shipping takes 2-3 days -- so your order will take about one week to get to you once you approve your proof(s) and pay for them.
How long does the hard copy take?
Waiving this option is often done to save time because it adds about 1 week to the process (it must be printed and then mailed).
Can we make changes after the hard copy?
You may have changes made after receiving a hard copy. The changes will be sent to you as emailed proofs. You have now seen how the invitation will look and feel, so emailed proofs are usually good enough (and faster).
Catalog / Samples
Can you mail me a catalog?
No, we don't have a printed catalog. We have an online one. It saves us money (and therefore you money). And if we need to update it, it is instant and without reprinting costs.
Can you mail me a sample?
Yes, we offer limited free samples on our contact page. We only offer the cards listed there.
Why can't you mail me a sample of a specific design?
The samples are free. They stay that way because we only offer a limted stock. If we had to constantly restock every design available, we would have to charge for them. Plus the purpose of the samples is so you can see and feel the quality, size, etc. That is accomplished with our free sample options.
Submitting Photos
Can I send you photos to scan?
No, we only accept digital images. You can have them scanned and then send them. Most photo labs (i.e. Costco, Walmart, Sam's Club, Walgreens, etc.) will put the images to a disk when you give them a roll of film. Most copy centers (Kinkos, UPS Store, etc.) will scan prints.
One reason we don't scan for you is that we do not want to be liable for your photos in transit, while they are here, or have to send them back. Also, it adds at least a week, whereas if you go to a local lab to scan them, you only lose a day.
Can our Photographer send you the photos?
Yes, now the Main Card Order form does require at least one photo to be uploaded. If you don't have any to upload, just upload any photo, absolutely anything. Then in the "additional instructions" describe the photos that will come. Have your photographer use the "Amendment" order page, or they can email the photos (you'll have our email after you submit the order).
